Monsignor Matthew Odong
•A priest of the Archdiocese of Gulu in Northern Uganda
involved in Education and Pastoral Work.
•Holder of Master Degree in Doctrinal Theology (Magna Cum Laude) from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa in Nairobi, Kenya;
•Bachelors Degree In Theology from Urban University in Rome;
•Diploma in Philosophy (Magna cum Laude) from
St. Augustine’s Major Seminary, Mabanga Kenya;
•Certificate In Religious Studies from Kenyatta University, Nairobi Kenya;
•Rector of Sacred Heart Seminary Lacor since January 1990;
•Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Gulu since February 2, 1995;
•Co-Founder of HOPE FOR UGANDA, a 501c charitable organization based in the State of Minnesota for the purpose of providing financial support to Sacred Heart Seminary Lacor, Archbishop Flynn Secondary School and the Archdiocese of Gulu;
•Founder of Archbishop Flynn Secondary School in Pader District since February 2009;
•Chairman/Member of the Board Governors of various Catholic educational institutions/organization including Comboni Samaritan of Gulu, St. Mary’s College Lacor, Sacred Heart Girls’ Secondary School in Gulu, Archbishop Flynn Secondary School for boys & girls in Pader (1992-2023);
•Founder of Blessed Daudi & Jildo Irwa Pader Town Parish;
•Co-Founder of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish Adilang;
•Co-Founder of Acholi Religious Leaders Peace Initiative (an interfaith organization which brought together Catholics, Anglicans, Muslim community, Orthodox, Seventh Day Adventists where her served as Secretary General for over ten years. The Mission of the Organization was for Advocacy, Mediation and Reconciliation in a decade of war that forced a million population out of their homes and displaced them in internally displaced camps);
•Moderator of the Diocesan Curia/Departments;
•Member of the Diocesan Board of Consulters;
•Executive Member of the Archdiocesan Finance Council;
•Served As Chairman Diocesan Priests’ Association;
•Was elected and served as Guild President of the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) for one full Academic Year;
•In charge of priests’ welfare in the Archdiocese of Gulu;
•Popularly known in America as ice-cream priest.
